Announcing our Fall
Show!------------------------------------------------------------------
5.20.2010
Penn Singers is proud to announce its Fall 2010 Musical:
PARADE
Music and Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown
Book by Alfred Uhry
The tragic, true story of the trial and lynching of a man wrongly
accused of murder is brought to emotional and theatrical life by
acclaimed playwright Alfred Uhry ("Driving Miss Daisy") and
Jason Robert Brown, one of Broadway's most promising young
composers ("Songs For A New World").
In 1913, Leo Frank, a Brooklyn-born Jew living in Georgia, is put on
trial for the murder of 13-year-old Mary Phagan, a factory worker under
his employ. Already guilty in the eyes of everyone around him, a
sensationalist publisher and a janitor's false testimony seal
Leo's fate. His only defenders are a governor with a conscience,
and, eventually, his assimilated Southern wife who finds the strength
and love to become his greatest champion.
Audition information will be available soon. Please email Penn Singers Publicity with
any questions.

Announcement---------------------------------------------------------------------
4.7.2009
Penn Singers proudly presents its 2009-2010 Season:
CURTAINS (Fall 2009)
Book by Rupert Holmes
Music by John Kander
Lyrics by Fred Ebb
Additional Lyrics by Kander and Holmes
Curtains is a musical based on the original book and concept by
Peter Stone, the musical is a send-up of backstage murder mystery
plots, set in 1959 Boston, Massachusetts and follows the fallout when
the supremely untalented star of Robbin' Hood of the Old West
is murdered during her opening curtain call. Can a police detective who
moonlights as a musical theater fan save the show, solve the case, and
maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed
himself?
